Monica Zarafu is the Founder and CEO of BYKKO, a technology provider and operator of electric bike share and micromobility hubs. Monica has also founded the Bike Share Studies consultancy specialised in network design, data analysis, travel demand forecast, operations management and strategic planning.
She has consulted to local and state governments, global bike share providers and master plan developments ready to integrate bike sharing and micromobility as a sustainable, environmentally friendly and cost-effective transport system.
A transport engineer specialised in innovative transport solutions with over 25 years of academic, local government and industry practice in Australia and overseas, Monica is the recipient of a number of international scholarships and awards, including a scholarship from CSIRO, the Australian federal government agency for scientific research, the First Annual Martin Lowson Paper Award conferred by the US Advanced Transit Association (ATRA) and the 2021 Australian Women In Digital, Innovator of the Year.
She has been selected in the Top 3 women founders at the global 2021 Empower Women in Shared Mobility awards, and she has been nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 Women-In Tech Global Movement APAC awards.
Monica is a champion of integrating active travel and micromobility into future urban transport mix for healthier, safer and more liveable communities.
